About the Role
Job Summary:
The Fire Alarm / Access Control Apprentice assists experienced technicians in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fire alarm and access control systems. This entry-level role provides hands-on training and industry experience to develop technical skills while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the installation and maintenance of fire alarm and access control systems.
Pull and terminate cables, mount equipment, and prepare job sites for installations.
Learn to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Support troubleshooting efforts under the guidance of senior technicians.
Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
Follow safety procedures and company protocols on all job sites.
Attend training sessions to develop knowledge of fire alarm and security systems.
Assist in documentation, including daily logs and service reports.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (technical school or related coursework preferred).
Interest in fire alarm, electrical, or security system installation.
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior technicians.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments.
Valid driver’s license is a plus.
No prior experience required, but electrical or low-voltage knowledge is beneficial.
